The first piece completed in the Richmond studio, and the first time I incorporated a carved detail into my work. The recessed panel on the posts is drawn from the classic Berkeley architecture visible throughout the neighborhood — a reference to the architects and designers who have shaped the look of this town. The veneered top sits in a solid hardwood frame, a construction method I had used once before and now feel confident repeating. A lower shoe rack is built into the base.
